Call For Workshops

The C++ Online 2027 Call for Online Workshops now open!
This year we have separated talks and workshops into two separate announcements (although submissions are made through the same portal in both instances)
Talk Submissions can be made through our separate Call For Speakers
If you presented a workshop at last year's C++Online (or post event) will already have the understanding of much of the info below - the proposal and details are all the same as last year, so you may wish to skip directly to the submission portal
Unlike talks, workshops are scheduled in the weeks immediately following the main conference and can be scheduled around the instructors availability. C++Online offers a wide range of post-conference training and workshop sessions and we aim to facilitate content of all levels and subjects that might be relevant to a wider programming audience.
Workshops require an additional registration fee and 50% of this revenue is shared with the instructor (although this is negotiable)
About The Event
The core C++Online 2027 event will run, entirely online, over 3 days and 3 tracks of content from 10th - 12th March 2027.
Main Conference: 9th – 11th March 2026
Post-Event Workshop Window: 30th March – 30th May 2026
The event has seen steady growth over the past 3 years seeing around a 20% increase in attendance from one year to the next. This year we anticipate at least 350+ attendees from a range of backgrounds across the globe. C++Online offers a true, international conference experience, open to all and with a focus on those who might otherwise be able to attend traditional in-person events due to cost or location.
Online Workshop Performance
Workshops have been one of our biggest areas of success, with the virtual/online format allowing for wider attendance from participants across the world. Whilst other events seem to be struggling with workshop attendance, C++Online continues to draw in attendance from around the globe.
In 2026, we ended up running 12 online workshop sessions over the 3 months immediately following the event (with 3 workshops being ran more than once). This resulted in 121 workshop registrations being sold, with an average attendance of around 10 attendees per workshop and only a couple of workshops that had to be cancelled due to under-attendance.
Workshops are scheduled in a way to ensure less possibility of clashes, generally we aim to schedule a maximum of two workshops in any given week and never on the same day.
1 out of every 2 conference registrations also purchased a post-conference workshop session. In practice this was likely closer to 1 in 3 as some people purchased multiple workshops.
Workshops require an additional ticket purchase to attend and are scheduled after the main event, allowing the conference to act as an additional opportunity for additional sign-ups.
Flexible Workshop Formats
We offer adaptable scheduling options to accommodate global timezones:
- Half-Day Workshops: Single 4-hour session.
- 1-Day Workshops: Offered either as a single 8-hour day (5–6 hours teaching time) or split across two 4-hour half-days.
- 2-Day Workshops: Two 8-hour days.
- Repeat Runs: Instructors are welcome to run the same workshop twice at different times to target both US and European/Asian timezones.
Submission Guidelines & Selection
- Submit Multiple Proposals: We ask instructors to provide at least two workshop topics (if possible). This allows us to select complementary topics across instructors and avoid subject overlap.
- Direct Review Process: Workshop proposals are reviewed directly by conference organizers rather than through the anonymized public review panel used for general talks.
- Instructor-Friendly Curation: Our goal is to schedule at least one workshop per accepted instructor before adding secondary topics.
Workshop Content/Subjects
We welcome submissions on a range of topics and difficulty levels, however, we are also aware of current shifts within the industry, particularly around the advent of A.I. As such, there are a few suggestions you may wish to consider:
- A.I is cannibalizing a lot of the basic training market, particularly for base programming knowledge, processes and understanding the code itself. We are seeing less interest in the more basic ‘how this function or feature works’ as a lot of this knowledge can now be freely obtained through A.I assistance
- A.I topics/subjects are extremely popular at the moment and draw a very high interest due to the trending nature of the subject matter. We saw direct evidence of this last year with Jody’s two A.I focussed sessions being our two most popular workshops overall. A.I sessions can range from how to programme an A.I agent, through to using A.I within other workflows, using A.I tooling to achieve particular outcomes or broader sessions on integrating A.I into established workflows or practices
- Non-A.I sessions that continue to draw interest are those of topics that aren't as impacted by A.I systems. These topics include Software Design, Testing, Theory, Workflow/Best Practices, Tooling or anything personal or experience based (lessons learnt).
- Niche or hyper specific topics can be difficult to market due to being a limited audience. We are still open to hosting such content, but we’ll likely need more assistance in promoting the session from the instructor, particularly if its a subject they are well known for, as they will likely have a more relevant audience of followers.
- We still want to encourage beginner content that's aimed at those starting out their coding careers, but we need to be mindful that there are many free or affordable alternatives available online. So you may need to consider how the content can offer more than they might get elsewhere, or be presented as a means to an end (a guide to taking your first steps in a programming career, for example).
More Workshops, Cheaper Conference Tickets
Last year, we moved to a new model for the event designed to make the main conference more accessible and easier to attend for a wider range of people, demographics and geo-locations.
We reduced the entry fee for individual attendees to main the conference by 50%, creating a much lower barrier to entry for potential purchasers. This opened up attendance to a much wider range of attendees whilst still covering our core costs. In addition, we offered ‘workshop taster’ sessions as part of the main conference schedule, providing attendees an opportunity to ‘try before they buy’ for a selection of the available post-event sessions. This combination of lower conference fees and workshop tasters led to more attendees joining the event and a much higher uptake on post-event workshop sales than we have seen previously
Our goal this year is to have a wider range of workshops available, scheduled in a way that makes them more accessible to different time zones, that all take place after the main conference. We hope over time we can further reduce the entry fee to the main event (with the eventual goal of making it entirely free to attend)
Workshop Taster Sessions
Last year we introduced the concept of 'Workshop Taster Sessions' or Training Previews which were hosted in a dedicated third track of content during the main 3 day online conference.
This new concept was very successful, leading to the highest number of workshop sales across any of our prior conferences (in fact, we sold more workshop tickets last year compared to the prior two years combined). So we are planning to offer this option again this year.
These taster sessions will be accessible to anyone with a main conference registration, just like the normal talk sessions and will provide attendees an opportunity to get a taste of the content, teaching style and other factors of the post event workshops, before they make a purchase'. In addition, we record these sessions in Zoom so that attendees from different time zones can watch on-demand.. Furthermore, we stream these previews free of charge to YouTube (only the workshop track would be streamed) to further increase awareness and reach an additional, larger audience with the content. Finally, at the discretion of the instructors, we would publish the preview sessions to YouTube to get the material in front of the channel subscribers and further increase the reach of marketing material. Both we (the conference) and the instructors will then be able to utilize these materials to advertise the sessions on social media and other platforms too.
We add the final polished videos to each workshop info page so that external viewers can also preview the content before making a purchasing decision
Last year we saw a record number of workshop sales during the event (which we believe is in part due to the taster sessions) plus saw around 30% of the total sales come in during the weeks post-event, ahead of each workshop running.
You do not have to offer a preview session in order to be accepted, we’ll aim to accept at least one session from each instructor - anyone accepted for multiple sessions would only be expected to offer one preview session (if they can). Pre-recorded previews are also a viable option and can then played back during the event or uploaded directly to YouTube
If willing to do a taster/preview session we'd need you to be available to present during one of the main conference days (10th-12th March 2027 - 1200-2200 UTC) or provide a pre-recorded taster session video that we can play into the Zoom session and then add to On-Demand etc.
TLDR Submission Details
Teaser/Preview Sessions During The Event
- Attendee Access: Tasters are hosted through our Zoom systems and are recorded for on-demand viewing - sessions can be 30-60 minutes in length
- High Impact: Taster tracks are livestreamed and published to our YouTube channel which has over 3000 followers for permanent marketing reach.
- Standalone Value: Previews should be educational and provide immediate value while teasing the larger course syllabus. What content to include and how much to give away would be at the discretion of the instructor
- Pre-Recordings Accepted: Instructors unable to present live during conference hours (13:00–20:30 UTC) can submit a pre-recorded taster.
- Self Marketing: These preview videos can also be made available to the instructors to use in their own marketing and promotions (although will also exist on the C++Online YouTube channel in perpetuity - where we can also link through to the instructors website etc).
- Permanent Promotional Assets: Taster session recordings remain available on YouTube and can be embedded directly into your course booking page.
Full Workshop Sessions - Post Event
- These sessions would be scheduled at least a month post event to ensure people are more likely to be available when considering booking a session.
- Multiple sessions can be presented/offered per instructor (either different workshops, or repeats of the same workshop)
- We also would encourage instructors to consider offering more than one session at different times that would make it more accessible to a wider range of attendees and timezones (we understand that based on your own local timezone that may be more or less achievable).
- These sessions can use your own training systems/infrastructure or we can provide you with a Zoom license/account to use for your sessions
Pricing & Revenue Share
- Full Day Workshops are offered at a price of £345 per day through the C++Online website. This also includes access to the main C++Online conference too. Some sessions may be offered at lower rates (at the discretion of the speaker) for beginner or novice focussed topics/sessions.
- Half day workshops are offered at a half day rate
- 2-day workshops are offered at a discounted 2 day rate (negotiable with the instructor)
- Instructors are offered a 50% split of all registration sales
- If possible, we also like to offer discounts for certain demographics to make the content more accessible, including offering an internal discount on registrations to our incredible volunteers and main conference speakers without whom the event could not happen. These discounts are usually offered as a 20% reduction. The same split would also apply in this scenario, with the instructor receiving 50% of the remaining ticket value after discount.
- We also usually offer a student workshop ticket at a lower price point of £90 + VAT
- Workshops have been one of C++Online's most successful elements so far - Last year we sold 121 workshop tickets for 12 workshops resulting in £12,000 of income that was paid out to workshop instructors.
- We also saw some outlier sessions that received 2-3x the average number of workshop registrations due to trending topics and demand, particularly sessions around A.I, Software Design and Testing.
- We hope to see another increase in attendance to the conference this year (we’ve seen around a 20% growth year on year since we began back in 2023) and will be planning to begin promotion of the workshops much earlier this time around, which should hopefully have a further increase in ticket sales
Additional Instructor Benefits
All accepted speakers will receive:
- Complimentary full access to the whole event, including on-demand access to the videos of sessions shortly after they finish. (Not including workshops)
- Early Access to All 2027 YouTube Videos

How Long Do I Have?
There is no formal deadline for Workshop submissions as they do not follow a standard review process like talk submissions (workshops are considered on a case by case basis by the organising team).
We’ll plan to review submissions as they come in (or in batches at different points along the way) and respond to instructors dynamically, as needed. We’ll aim to first schedule sessions that cover different topics and will aim to host at least one session from each instructor that submits. Therefore it's recommended to submit a number of different submissions to provide a wider range of options and ensure we can avoid clashes of subject.
There will be a soft deadline at the end of December for submissions where instructors wish to present a preview. However our plan will be to keep submissions open year round and offer online training on an ongoing basis (we will however be mindful of other events so we aren't impacting their workshop sales).

Everything above are all suggestions/guidelines, but we are more than happy to consider other ideas, negotiate on any specifics or host sessions that are not able to provide a preview session
